Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Assaulting Specially-Abled Girl

In a landmark ruling, a special court in Mysore has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for assaulting a Specially-Abled young girl.

The convicted individual, a resident of a village in Mysore taluk, gained entry into the victim’s house under the pretense of asking for water before committing the heinous act. The girl’s parents promptly filed a complaint at the Mysore Dakshina police station.

Following the registration of the case, the police submitted a charge sheet against the accused to the court. Judge Shaima Kharmoz, who presided over the investigation, handed down a 20-year prison sentence to the convicted criminal. Additionally, the judge ordered the payment of Rs 1,05,000 in compensation to the victim.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Legal Services Authority awarded the aggrieved girl Rs 5 lakh in compensation, affirming her entitlement to such support. Special Public Prosecutor K.B. Jayanti passionately argued on behalf of the government during the proceedings.
