Education Minister says online bar till standard 5, clarifies there was cabinet ‘discussion’, not ‘decision’, on raising it to standard 7
BENGALURU:
Hours after Law Minister JC Madhuswamy announced on Thursday that online classes were barred from LKG to standard 7, Primary and Secondary Minister Suresh Kumar clarified that, as earlier announced on Wednesday, there would be no online classes till standard 5.
Apparently, there was a ‘discussion’ at the cabinet meeting to bar online teaching till standard 7, not a ‘decision’ as the Law Minister made it out to be in his briefing to the media.
Suresh Kumar tweeted: “Karnataka Govt has decided to stop all online classes for LKG, UKG and classes up to 5th standard.”
He added, “To extend this up to 7th standard is only a suggestion from a few cabinet ministers as expressed in an informal discussion and not a decision.”
