Bengaluru: The 54th KVS National Sports Meet (Kabaddi Boys U-14), 2025-26 was inaugurated with grand ceremony and patriotic zeal at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya MEG & Centre, Bengaluru, marking a spirited beginning to one of the premier sporting events on the Kendriya Vidyalaya calendar.
Over 230 young kabaddi players representing 20 KVS regions across the country, accompanied by 40 escort officials, gathered for the three-day national event that celebrates youth sportsmanship, national integration, and healthy competition.
Brigadier Ajay Singh Thakur, Commandant, MEG and Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by NCC cadets, led by JUC Master Dhruva Raj, while the Girl Pipe Band, under Ms. Darshini, added musical dignity to the proceedings.
The event began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the National Anthem, evoking unity and pride among participants and guests. Principal Lokesh Bihari Sharma welcomed dignitaries and teams with an inspiring address, setting the tone for the competition.
The meet was formally declared open by Brigadier Thakur, who released a cluster of balloons, symbolizing the launch of sportsmanship, fellowship, and fair play. The Oath of Sportsmanship was administered by the captain of the Bengaluru Region team, committing all players to fairness, discipline, and respect in the true spirit of sport.
A short yet captivating cultural programme followed the inauguration, featuring a classical dance performance and a rousing performance by the Girl Pipe Band that added colour and vibrancy to the ceremony.
