Bengaluru: The Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) — maker of the iconic Mysore Sandal Soap — has handed over a record ₹135 crore dividend cheque to the Government of Karnataka for the financial year 2024–25.

The cheque was presented to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil and KSDL Chairman Appaji Nadagouda at a ceremony held in the Vidhana Soudha conference hall.

Addressing the gathering, Minister M.B. Patil said that KSDL achieved an impressive turnover of ₹1,700 crore and net profit of ₹451 crore in the last fiscal year — marking the highest-ever figures in the company’s history.

“As per government norms, 30% of the total profit has been remitted to the state as dividend. This is a record year in terms of revenue, profit, and dividend distribution,” Patil stated.

During the previous BJP government in 2022–23, KSDL had paid a dividend of ₹54 crore, followed by ₹108 crore in 2023–24. The current dividend reflects a ₹27 crore increase compared to the previous year, showing consistent growth under the Congress-led administration.

“We expect the company’s profitability and dividend contribution to rise further in the coming years,” the minister added.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Ministers K.J. George, Priyank Kharge, Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, Santosh Lad, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, Principal Secretary (Industries) Selvakumar, and KSDL Managing Director Dr. P.K. Prashanth were also present on the occasion.
