· Game Jersey will be launched by Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Information and Broadcasting Govt. of India

· The games will be held at Sree Kanteerava Indoor and Outdoor Stadium, JAIN University Global Campus, JAIN Sports School, SAI Shooting Range and KM Carriappa Hockey Stadium

· The 10-day event starting from 24th April 2022 will feature 20 sports, including athletics, judo, volleyball, kabaddi, basketball, karate and malakamba, with more than 8,000 athletes and staff from over 200 universities in the country

BENGALURU:

Thawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka will launch the Logo and Mascot of the Khelo India University Games 2021.

Addressing the press conference at Vidhana Soudha, Dr. K C Narayana Gowda, Minister of Sericulture, Youth Empowerment and Sports, said that the KIUG Logo, Mascot, Theme song and Jersey will be unveiled on 1st April 2022 at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, Bengaluru.

Dr. Chenraj Roychand, Chancellor of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), and Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, I.A.S. Additional Chief Secretary were present at the press conference.

The jersey will be unveiled by Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Information and Broadcasting Govt. of India. Also, the KIUG Anthem will be launched by Honourable Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, youth Affairs and Sports, Nisith Pramanik.

Dr. Ashwathnarayan C.N. Minister of Higher Education and Skill Development, GoK will launch the KIUG mobile app for the games. Also, on the same day a new synthetic athletic track, built at the concert stadium, will be inaugurated.

Narayana Gowda said, “It is a matter of pride for our state to host the second edition of Khelo India University Games. JAIN University is the official host of the games which are scheduled to take place from 24th April to 3rd May 2022. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has cooperated with all stakeholders in organizing the event successfully and taking the sport to a higher level. In addition, our Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has been closely monitoring the preparations and providing all kinds of encouragement”.

Dr. Chenraj Roychand said, “I would like to thank AIU, GOK, GOI, SAI, and DYES for choosing JAIN University as the official host of the games. Hon’ble Ministers and officers have been very supportive at every stage of planning and preparation and so is the team at JAIN. We are working under the guidance of Shri Narayana Gowda ji and hope that Khelo India University Games will make a significant contribution towards realizing India’s sporting goal. We are very excited about the games that will begin from 24th April. For KIUG 2022, our key focus is to adhere to the global standards of sports, maintaining a highly professional approach, fair play, and readiness for the smooth execution for this massive sporting event”.

“As the official hosts of KIUG, we reiterate our commitment to make this distinguished event a grand success and continue to uphold our core values ​​of nurturing sports talent in the country. We are hopeful that KIUG will set up an array of innumerable opportunities in sports for the budding talents who will make the country proud in the global forums”. Dr. Roychand added.

The opening ceremony will be held on 24th April 2022 and will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice President Shri. Venkaiah Naidu. The State Government has also invited Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. The state athletes who have achieved on National and International level have also been invited for the opening ceremony along with various sports association members and dignitaries. Ministers of the state of Karnataka, MLAs, Central and State Government senior officials, various office bearers of sports federations and the sport achievers will be participating in the launch of the event.
