Night curfew continues across Karnataka from 9 pm to 5 am; Marriage ceiling increased to 400 attendees

The Karnataka government on Monday withdrew the weekend curfew from Belagavi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar districts. However, the state government clarified that the night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am continues in all districts, including Bengaluru.

The government order followed a detailed discussion at a meeting of officials chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

“The weekend curfew imposed in Belagavi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts is withdrawn,” reads the order signed by Tushar Giri Nath, Principal Secretary, Revenue Department (DM), and Member-Secretary, State Executive Committee.

However, the weekend curfew shall continue in Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts in addition to Udupi and Hassan districts as per the existing guidelines, the order reads.

No curbs on students

Students are permitted to attend exams during the weekend curfew while adhering to prevailing guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Covid- appropriate behaviour. Hall tickets shall serve as IDs for purposes of movement.

Marriage ceiling upto 50% of hall

The order further enhances the ceiling to 400 persons at marriages/family functions, or up to 50% of the hall capacity. “Marriages/family functions are permitted to be conducted with
gatherings up to 50% of the hall capacity allowed, and with a maximum ceiling of 400 persons strictly adhering to Covid-19 appropriate behavior and prevailing guidelines issued by the state government,” Giri Nath’s order says.

Checkpost vigil

The order directs strict surveillance at district border checkposts adjoining Kerala and Maharashtra, as per the prevailing circular/guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
