Bengaluru: The Meteorological Centre, Bengaluru has issued a weather alert for Karnataka, forecasting thunderstorms, rainfall, and gusty winds across several regions of the state over the next few days, along with hot and humid conditions along the coast.
According to the latest report, atmospheric conditions including an upper air cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and a north-south trough extending up to the Gulf of Mannar are influencing weather patterns across Karnataka.
Rain & Thunderstorm Alert:
Thunderstorms accompanied by rain and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely to occur between April 13 and April 15 over South Interior Karnataka, and between April 14 and April 15 over North Interior Karnataka. Coastal Karnataka is also expected to receive rainfall during this period, while parts of South Interior Karnataka may witness showers as early as April 11–12.

Temperature & Humidity:
Hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail over Coastal Karnataka on April 11 and 12. Maximum temperatures across the state are expected to show a gradual rise over the next five days, with some regions already recording above-normal temperatures.
Region-wise Forecast Highlights:
Coastal Karnataka: Light to moderate rain likely intermittently over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada, along with humid conditions.
North Interior Karnataka: Mostly dry weather initially, with rain and thunderstorms expected from April 14 onwards in districts like Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, and Haveri.
South Interior Karnataka: Intermittent rain and thundershowers expected in districts including Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Mandya, and Chamarajanagara, especially from April 13 onwards.
Bengaluru Forecast:
For Bengaluru city, partly cloudy skies are expected over the next 48 hours, with maximum temperatures around 35°C and minimum temperatures near 24°C.
The India Meteorological Department has advised residents to stay alert during thunderstorm activity, particularly in vulnerable areas, and take necessary precautions against gusty winds and lightning.
