4 more groups get vaccination priority; Karnataka DyCM says overseas-bound groups can take 2nd Covishield jab within 6 weeks
BENGALURU:
The National Health Mission has revised the list of priority groups for vaccination by adding four more groups, including students going to foreign countries to pursue their studies, DyCM and state Covid task force head Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said on Monday.
Persons who have to travel abroad for work/employment, workers of milk co-operative societies, and cable operators have also been included in the list.
The vaccination campaign for students going to foreign countries to pursue their studies, and those who need to travel abroad for employment, will be launched on Tuesday, June 1, at 3 pm in the afternoon at the Administrative Block of Bengaluru City University, Dr Narayan said.
Vaccine certificates on spot
There was a demand from these sections for vaccination on priority and the DyCM took the initiative in this regard. Those who wish to get inoculated should possess visas, admission receipts or any such relevant documents. Certificates confirming the completion of the vaccination will be issued on the spot, the DyCM added.
For persons in these sections who have received the first Covishield vaccine dose, the time gap has also been relaxed and they can get the second shot even before completing 6 weeks.
The Chief Commissioner of BBMP and all district commissioners have been asked to issue the necessary eligibility certificates to students going to foreign countries and those who need to travel to get employed in other countries, based on the verification of documents, Dr Narayan said.
