Majority of Monday’s Infections have travel history of Maharashtra

The new rules for lockdown 4.0 may have made life easier for Karnataka’s citizens, but the flip side is the surge in Covid-19 cases, with the state recording the biggest single-day spike of 99 new positive cases on Monday.
As per the bulletin released by the state health and welfare department, the number of infections in the state has swollen to 1,246. This includes 37 deaths and 530 discharges. Out of 678 active cases, 666 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and are stable, while 12 are in ICUs.
The 99 new cases include 24 from Bengaluru Urban, 17 from Mandya, 10 from Kalaburagi and 9 from Uttara Kannada, among others. Twenty-one patients, who have recovered, have been discharged on Monday.
A majority of the 99 cases are those with an inter-state travel history of Maharashtra, followed by contacts of patients already tested positive and from containment zones in Bengaluru Urban.
Bengaluru Urban continues to top the list of positive cases with a total of 260 infections, followed by Belagavi with 116 and Kalaburagi with 114.
Among discharges too, Bengaluru Urban tops the list with 122 discharges, followed by Mysuru with 88 and Belagavi with 62.
A total of 1,51,663 samples have been tested till date, out of which 6,265 tests were conducted on Monday alone. According to the health department,1,49,566 samples have returned negative so far, of which 6,122 reported negative today.
