Bengaluru: To strengthen the ongoing war on drugs, the Karnataka State Police has officially constituted the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF). This newly formed unit will act as a centralized intelligence and enforcement wing to combat narcotic crimes across the state.
Headed by an ADGP-rank officer, the ANTF will coordinate with the City Crime Branches (CCB), District Anti-Narcotic Units, and Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to execute anti-drug operations. The task force will function under the direct supervision of senior officers from the State Police Headquarters.
The move comes in response to rising drug-related incidents in urban centers like Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and Hubballi-Dharwad, with the state government emphasizing zero tolerance toward narcotics. The ANTF is expected to streamline intelligence sharing, expedite inter-departmental coordination, and lead targeted operations to dismantle drug supply chains.
Further, the force will assist in capacity building by providing specialized training to district-level officers and deploying surveillance tech to trace and track organized drug rackets.
The Anti-Narcotic Task Force aims to bolster Karnataka’s commitment to a drug-free society through aggressive action, public awareness campaigns, and strategic partnerships with national and international enforcement agencies.
