BENGALURU:
Monday’s health department statistics for Karnataka read — 187 fresh Covid-19 cases for a total tally of 3,408, and one death for a total death toll of 52.
The department bulletin said 117 of the days’s cases are returnees from other states, mostly Maharashtra, while three are returnees from the UAE.
The bulletin noted a total of 1,328 discharges. Out of 2,026 active cases, 2,014 are in designated hospitals and 12 are in ICUs. On Monday, 110 patients were discharged.
The 52nd death is a 90-year-old man from Bengaluru Urban, who was a secondary contact of a positive case. He was hospitalized on May 24 with sepsis and multi-organ failure, and died on May 31.
Of Monday’s new cases, Udupi accounted for 73, Bengaluru Urban for 28, Kalaburagi 24, Hassan 16, Mandya 15, Shivamogga 9, Chikkaballapur 5, Dakshina Kannada 4, Ballari 3, two each from Bidar, Bagalkot and Dharwad, and one each from Vijayapura, Kolar, Haveri and Ramanagara.
Bengaluru Urban continues to top the table with 385 cases, followed by Kalaburagi with 305 and Yadgir and Mandya with 285.
Among discharges, Bengaluru Urban leads with 237, followed by Kalaburagi with 128 and Davanagere with 121. A total of 3,04,816 samples have been tested so far, of which 11, 241 were tested on Monday. So far 2,97,052 samples have returned negative, and of them 10,807 reported negative on Monday.
