BENGALURU:

Karnataka Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Saturday said that the State government is considering holding the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections in the month of December.

A day before on June 23, the Karnataka Government had formed a new ward delimitation committee to be headed by its chief commissioner.

“We are considering holding the BBMP elections in the month of December. The BJP government had fixed the wards boundries according to their wishes. Now we have formed a committee and officials will do their work. We will not interfere in it,” he said while replying to a query.

He said that according to the new BBMP Act, elections will be held for 243 wards.

On June 19, considering the request of the Karnataka government, the State High Court gave 12 weeks time to the administration to redo ward delimitation.
