Karnataka breaches 5,000 Covid-case mark

378 new cases statewide on Saturday, 121 in Udupi

BENGALURU:

Karnataka’s gloomy tally of Covid-19 positive cases breached the 5,000 mark with the addition of 378 new cases in Saturday.This takes the exact number to 5,213, of which 1, 968 have recovered and been discharged.

Among ICU cases, Bengaluru has 5, Kalaburagi 4, Dharwad 2 and Tumkur one.

The state also reported two deaths on Saturday — one from Bidar and another from Vijayapura. The death toll now stands at 59.

Of Saturday’s 378 cases, 333 have a travel history to other states while 8 have a history of travel overseas.

Udupi reported yet another spike with 121 fresh cases. The district’s tally is now 889, of which 785 are active cases, making it top the table among all 30 districts in Karnataka.

Saturday’s district-wise figures are: Yadgiri 103, Kalaburagi 69, Bengaluru Urban 18 cases,
Dakshina Kannada 24, Vijayapura and Davanagere 6 each, Belagavi 5, Gadag 4, Mandya, Hassan, Haveri and Dharwad 3 each, Raichur, Chikkaballapur and Uttar Kannada 2 each, and Bidar, Tumkur, Kolar and Koppala one each.
