Karnataka BJP hints at cabinet revamp

After resounding election victories in four states, Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel on Saturday hinted at revamping the cabinet of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

” Every possible measure will be taken to strengthen the chances of BJP winning the next assembly elections in the state, ” he said when asked whether the party was planning to revamp the state cabinet ahead of elections.

BJP General Secretary C T Ravi also hinted at the party’s readiness to revamp the state cabinet by saying that the party is making efforts to ” administer medicines to cure the ailments afflicting the party “.

For some time, BJP leaders have been pressing for filling up the four ministerial berths and also removing non-performing Ministers, and giving chances to young MLAs so that they can get adequate time to prove their mettle at work.

Among the lot, Bommai’s Political Secretary MP Renukacharya has been very vocal in demanding the removal of some senior Ministers. He alleged that some of them were not even responding to his phone calls.

BJP MLA and former Union Minister Basanagouda Patil Yatnal also was vocal in demanding filling up of four vacant ministerial berths He predicted a revamp of the state cabinet on the lines of Gujarat model where almost a new cabinet was formed ahead of the elections “Stagnating water is bad.
