Classes will be at 50% attendance for 5 days a week: Ashoka
BENGALURU:
The Karnataka government on Monday announced that the state will reopen schools for classes 6 to 8 from September 6 in talukas where the Covid positivity rate is below 2%.
Revenue Minister R Ashoka made the announcement in the presence of Education Minister BC Nagesh after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai chaired a meeting of officials and the Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 on Monday evening.

2% positivity benchmark
The decision follows the resumption of physical classes for standards 9 to 12 from August 23 in districts where the Covid positivity rate was less than 2% after a gap of five months.
The Minister said the classes will be conducted with 50% attendance and for five days a week. “Saturday and Sunday will be used to conduct sanitisation in the school,” Ashoka said.
