Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil on Tuesday announced that the Jindal Group has committed to invest ₹1.20 lakh crore in the state over the next five years, as the government launched a two-day investment roadshow in Mumbai to attract fresh industrial projects.

Patil met Jindal Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal and Joint Managing Director Jayant Acharya during the roadshow, which aims to secure investments across manufacturing, semiconductors, electronics, FMCG and emerging technology sectors.

The minister travelled to Mumbai immediately after the expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet and held discussions with representatives of Jindal, L&T, Bisleri, Raymond, Torque, Hiranandani, Sanofi Health, Magnum, Balu Forge, Max Aerospace and several other leading companies on the first day of the roadshow.

Patil said Jindal, which has a significant presence in steel and allied sectors, considers Karnataka its preferred investment destination and plans to invest ₹1.20 lakh crore over the next five years.

He noted that the group has already invested around ₹1.30 lakh crore in Karnataka over the past three decades, playing a major role in the industrial development of Ballari and Vijayanagara districts. The government, he said, will extend all necessary support for the company’s next phase of expansion.

Bisleri, Raymond encouraged to invest in north Karnataka

Patil said Bisleri is exploring expansion and additional investments in Karnataka, a move expected to generate around 2,000 jobs. The company has been encouraged to consider Vijayapura or Chamarajanagar districts, citing water availability and industrial potential.

Similarly, Raymond Lifestyle Ltd has been invited to establish its proposed denim manufacturing facility in Ballari or Vijayapura, considering raw material availability and market connectivity.

L&T explores chip design, robotics and innovation park

Engineering major L&T shared plans to enter the industrial robotics sector and is evaluating the establishment of a global chip design centre in Bengaluru.

Company representatives also discussed setting up a dedicated Electronics Research and Innovation Park in Karnataka. Patil said the government would facilitate high-voltage testing and electronic testing infrastructure if the company proceeds with the project.

Semiconductor and AI investments discussed

Torque Semiconductors expressed interest in investing in semiconductors, artificial intelligence and data centres in Karnataka, besides exploring the establishment of a compound semiconductor fabrication facility.

Meanwhile, TCPL Packaging Ltd is considering investments in films and laminates manufacturing in the state.

Focus on jobs, R&D and industrial growth

Patil said discussions with investors focused on increasing investments, boosting manufacturing, creating employment, promoting research and development, establishing data centres, and ensuring the availability of land and water for industrial projects.

The meetings were attended by Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Managing Director of Torque; Saket Kanoria, Chairman of TCPL Packaging; Angelo George, CEO of Bisleri; Girish Advani, Head of New Ventures at Raymond Group; Arun Ramachandrani, Senior Vice President of L&T; and Viral Shah and Ruchir Shah from Sanofi.

Principal Secretary, Industries Department, S. Selvakumar, and Industries Commissioner Khushboo Goel also participated in the discussions on behalf of the Karnataka government.
