JD(S) Chief H D Kumaraswamy Vows Support for Thorough Probe into Obscene Video Case

Date:

SHIVAMOGGA/BENGALURU: Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy is taking a firm stance on the alleged obscene video cases involving his nephew Prajwal Revanna.

During a press conference on Monday, Kumaraswamy stated, “Those who make a mistake should be punished. I will take disciplinary action against Prajwal within the party. There is no question of supporting him in this issue. HD Deve Gowda and I have always treated women with respect. Let the wrongdoers face the consequences.”

Addressing concerns about the involvement of his family name in the case, Kumaraswamy emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. “I am not taking anyone’s side. An FIR has been filed, an SIT has been formed, and I fully support a transparent probe into the matter. We are awaiting the SIT report.”

According to the complainant, both H D Revanna and Prajwal Revanna were involved in the assault.

Kumaraswamy also addressed questions about the impact of the incident on the Lok Sabha elections, particularly in Hassan where Prajwal Revanna is a candidate. “We are confident that our candidate will emerge victorious in the elections in Hassan.”

Responding to reports of Prajwal Revanna allegedly fleeing the country, Kumaraswamy stated, “I cannot comment on Prajwal’s whereabouts. It is a personal matter between two individuals. If the government decides to take action, we will cooperate. I cannot monitor his movements on a daily basis.”

Had we been informed earlier about this issue, we would have taken appropriate action. It is essential to address such matters promptly to prevent further escalation.”
