The government has decided not to extend Dr. Manjunath’s tenure as the director of Jayadeva Hospital. His term will officially end on January 31.
Previously, the government had extended his term for an additional six months due to public demand. According to the NMC Act, one can serve until the age of 70. Dr. Manjunath is currently 67 years old, which means he could serve for another three years. However, the government has chosen not to continue his tenure.
The process of selecting a new director for Jayadeva Hospital has begun, with over 15 applications already submitted. There are rumors circulating that the state government plans to appoint a close friend of the Chief Minister, who is based in Mysore, as the new director.
Dr. Manjunath has addressed the speculation about him running for election and clarified that there is no truth to those rumors. He has no intention of standing for election.
