Cops have traced all the passengers
BENGALURU:
City traffic cops have traced all the persons who were travelling in a Jaguar car, including actress Sharmila Mandre, which met with an accident on Saturday morning. It is likely that later in the evening the main accused driving the car will be arrested.
The car had an ’emergency’ pass issued by the police department for the lockdown period.
The Jaguar, registration number KA-51 MJ-2481, was seized soon after the accident. Those inside the car had fled the scene. The car is registered in the name of ‘Dawn Thomas Pious’.
Speaking to thebengalurulive, Additional Commissioner of Police (traffic) BR Ravi Kante Gowda said the pass was issued to the same registration number for the purpose of catering services. “We have traced all the people who were travelling in the car when it met with an accident near the railway underbridge close to Mount Carmel College. As the matter is under investigation, shortly we will reveal all the facts, including who was driving the car. The person responsible for the accident will be arrested,” Gowda said.
Late on Saturday evening, High Grounds traffic police station ASI Indra Shetty filed an FIR against an ‘unknown person’ who was driving the Jaguar car.
The FIR also mentions the names of Lokesh Vasanth K (33) and Sharmila Mandre (33), who sustained injuries.
The FIR copy accessed by thebengalurulive reads: “ASI who was on night duty has filed a complaint. A call from the control room on March 4 at about 3 am in the morning stated that a Jaguar car, number KA51 MJ – 2481, had met with an accident near Palace Road near the Vasantnagar underpass. The front portion of car is fully damaged. While conducting an enquiry, it was informed that the injured people were rushed to Vikram Hospital. When an enquiry was conducted with Vikram Hospital, they denied any accident patient reaching for treatment. However, after some time a memo was received from Fortis Hospital which mentioned the names of Lokesh and Sharmila Mandre and said the accident took place near JP Nagar. When both of them were asked at Fortis Hospital, they agreed that the accident took place near Vasant Nagar but declined to share more information. Both ascertained that they will come to the police station to provide further details.”
