HOSPET:

In a devastating incident, seven members of a single family lost their lives while returning home from a temple visit.

The incident occurred around 4 pm on National Highway-50 in Vyasanakere village, Hospet taluk. It has been revealed that all the deceased individuals were residents of Ukkadkeri, Hospet. Tragedy struck as they were traveling in a cruiser to Koolahalli Gonibasaveshwara temple near Harpanahalli for textile work.

The victims have been identified as Uma (45), Kenchavva (80), Bhagya (32), Anil (30), Gonibasappa (65), Yuvaraja (4), and Bhimalinga (50), while the lorry driver was en route to seek medical treatment.

As fate would have it, a mine tipper, en route from Hospet to Mariammanahalli, veered off the road due to a technical malfunction, resulting in a collision with the cruiser. Another truck was following closely behind the cruiser, leading to the crushing of the vehicle between the two lorries. Out of the thirteen occupants, seven lost their lives on the spot.

The remaining individuals who sustained severe injuries have been promptly transferred to Hospet Hospital for medical attention. Vijayanagar District S.P. Haribabu, accompanied by department personnel, visited the scene and diligently facilitated the transportation of the injured to the hospital.
