Hemavathi River: government doctor drowns in river before temple’s puja.

HASSAN:

A government doctor drowned in the Hemavathi river’s backwaters after taking a dip there before visiting a temple to perform puja. The police discovered his body floating in the river.

Dr. Chandrashekhar S. S. (31), a physician assigned to the Keregodu Primary Health Centre, travelled to the Khonapura island in the Hemavathi backwaters near Gorur on Friday morning before starting work to perform puja at the Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple. For years, he had been going to the temple.

On Friday, he left his phone in the vehicle, undressed on the river’s edge, and bathed in the water before going to the temple. He may have drowned in the water because he was unable to judge the depth.

His family members called him when he didn’t return until late at night and when he didn’t answer, they filed a police report with the Arkalgud department. A Gorur police patrol squad had noted Dr. Chandrashekhar’s vehicle had been parked in the same spot for a number of hours.

The patrol squad searched the river banks for the doctor after getting information from the Arkalgud police, and they discovered his clothes. They also discovered the body lying in the sea a short distance away. After the body was recovered by the authorities, a case was opened at the Gorur police station.
