BENGALURU:
Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has once again launched a scathing attack on the state government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Addressing reporters at the JDS office in the city on Sunday, he stated, “There is a duplicate Chief Minister in the state. Siddaramaiah has gone to Telangana for election campaigning and has become a laughing stock. They have adorned their ears with flowers in the name of guaranteeing the welfare of the people of our state. Now, they are making false promises to the voters in Telangana.”
Siddaramaiah, during his visit to Telangana, promised to fill 2 lakh government posts if his party comes to power. However, Kumaraswamy demanded that the vacant government posts in Karnataka be filled first, as there are already more than 2 lakh vacancies.
“The Shakti scheme has caused a lot of disruption. The lack of staff has resulted in numerous problems within the government. Load shedding has plunged the state into darkness. It is dark for Mahadevappa and dark for Kaka Patil. Under the Griha Jyoti Yojana, we will provide free electricity to the people. However, customers are receiving inflated electricity bills. The CM has announced that they will provide electricity for 7 hours every day. I challenge the CM to specify which areas of the state are receiving this promised 7-hour electricity supply. The Siddaramaiah government has brought a dark fate upon Karnataka,” Kumaraswamy asserted.
He further highlighted that around 10 lakh people have not received money under the Grilahakshmi Yojana, and the funds have not reached many beneficiaries in the state. “And now, they are claiming that they will provide 4 thousand rupees in Telangana. There are significant deviations from the Shakti Yojana scheme, which is causing issues. One particular problem is the free bus system, which is negatively impacting students. In terms of electricity, Karnataka has been facing a blackout for five months after the government took office. In response, officials and ministers recently held a meeting to discuss the issue of mobile light. The Chief Minister of Telangana, in a speech, promised to provide 24 hours of free electricity, prompting the Chief Minister of Karnataka to emphasize the need to first address the electricity problem within their own state,” he added.
Furthermore, there are concerns about the allocation of funds. Did the Commission and Social Welfare Department and the Indira Canteen work out? The opposition party, BJP, is protesting against this and questioning whether the money is truly being used for development programs. Can you guarantee that the funds are being utilized for social welfare purposes?
As for myself, HD Kumaraswamy, I managed to generate 3,500 crores in revenue over the course of 20 months. However, I had to take a loan to achieve this. In contrast, the previous governments accumulated a debt of 1 lakh crores over 12 years. When you were the Chief Minister five years ago, you accumulated a loan of 2 lakh 45 thousand crores. What moral authority do you have to question my actions? Currently, there is a debt of 5 lakh 71 thousand 600 crores, with a loan target of 8,58,15 crores. You previously stated that 56 thousand crores should be paid off annually. HD Kumaraswamy argues that it is the officials who have mismanaged the financial system, leading to the current state of affairs.
