The comprehensive development of Halasuru Lake, one of Bengaluru’s prominent water bodies, is currently in progress, aimed at improving the environment and providing better recreational facilities for the public, according to Rajendra Cholan, Commissioner of the Bengaluru Central City Corporation.

As part of the initiative, desilting operations have been undertaken to remove sediment accumulated over the past 25 years, which will increase the lake’s depth and enhance its water storage capacity. This process is also expected to improve the surrounding groundwater levels.

Furthermore, a two-level walkway is being constructed around the lake, designed to facilitate safe walking for the public while promoting health and relaxation. Decorative grills are being installed along the lake’s edges to enhance safety and beautify the area.

Additionally, a connecting bridge is being built to link the lake area with a nearby park, alongside other related development projects, including the construction of a new Kalyani.

The three islands within Halasuru Lake, currently in a state of disrepair, will also be reconstructed. The increased depth of the lake will provide a suitable training ground for NDRF personnel, enhancing their preparedness.

Seating arrangements will be made for citizens and visitors, and the adjacent park will be developed with various plant species to enhance its attractiveness.

Through these development efforts, Rajendra Cholan emphasized that the primary goal is to maintain the ecological balance of Halasuru Lake while providing citizens with a better recreational and entertainment environment.
