Yediyurappa notes govt’s relief measures at I-Day fete
BENGALURU:
The state government has stood strong during the Covid and flood crises, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said while greeting the people of the state on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day celebrations at the Manekshaw Parade Ground in Bengaluru on Saturday. He paid tribute to the country’s freedom-fighters and martyrs on the occasion.
Addressing the people of the state after hoisting the tricolour, the Chief Minister said, “We are moving strongly towards development in spite of all the problems this year. Work is worship, and government’s work is God’s work — this is the principle on which we are working.
“We have done an efficient job in controlling the coronavirus. Fever clinics and corona hospitals have been set up not only in Bengaluru but also in district centres. We have treated 1.30 crore people under Ayushman Bharat.”
The CM noted that the government had given relief of Rs 3,000 crore during the lockdown to the unorganised sector. “For corona warriors, we have announced a compensation of Rs 30 lakh in case of death. The corona warriors are like our country’s soldiers,” he said.
