From Karnataka Skills to ₹56 Lakh Sydney Jobs: 7 GTTC Technicians Selected by Australia’s PROK
Bengaluru: Seven technicians trained by Karnataka’s Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GTTC) have been selected for jobs with PROK, a NEPEAN Group company, at its Ingleburn production facility in Sydney, Australia, with each candidate set to receive an annual salary package of approximately ₹56 lakh.
The latest selection under the GTTC–NEPEAN collaboration follows another batch of six candidates selected by PROK in April 2026 who have already commenced employment at the company’s Ingleburn facility. With the new selections, the partnership is creating a structured route from technical training in Karnataka to high-value manufacturing jobs in Australia.
The seven technicians were selected after practical tests and interviews conducted by the NEPEAN Group at GTTC from August 31 to September 1, 2026. A total of 45 candidates participated in the selection process, which was designed to identify technically skilled candidates for international employment in advanced manufacturing.
The selected candidates are to be formally presented with their employment offer letters and contracts at a programme scheduled for 11 am on September 4 in Room No. 317, Vikas Soudha, Bengaluru, in the presence of Medical Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Minister Dr Sharanprakash R. Patil.
The employment formalities are being coordinated by NEPEAN Group’s HR team in Sydney. PROK will also facilitate the visa process for the selected candidates to enable their employment and relocation to Australia.
Dr Patil said the collaboration showed how skill development could translate directly into high-value global employment opportunities for Karnataka’s youth. He said the selection of GTTC-trained technicians for jobs in Australia at an annual package of approximately ₹56 lakh demonstrated the quality and relevance of technical training in the state.
The minister said the government was committed to strengthening such industry partnerships and creating more international career pathways for skilled youth. Karnataka has a strong technical and engineering talent pool, he said, adding that partnerships with leading global industries could expand opportunities for young people and strengthen the state’s position in advanced manufacturing and skills development.
Subodh Yadav, Principal Secretary, Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, described the GTTC–NEPEAN partnership as an example of industry-led, demand-driven skilling.
He said international employers were recognising the capabilities of technically trained youth from Karnataka, particularly in CNC programming, precision manufacturing and advanced engineering. Such partnerships, he said, could align the training ecosystem with global industry requirements and provide a direct pathway from skill development to international employment.
Yadav said the department would continue encouraging collaborations with international industries and institutions to expand opportunities for skilled candidates and strengthen Karnataka’s global skills ecosystem.
GTTC Managing Director Siddalingappa B. Pujari said the selection of seven more GTTC-trained technicians by PROK was a validation of the institution’s industry-oriented training model.
He said GTTC’s objective was not limited to providing technical education but also included ensuring that students acquired the skills, discipline and practical competencies required by leading industries worldwide. The NEPEAN collaboration, he said, was creating a structured pathway for GTTC-trained youth to secure international employment.
Pujari said GTTC would deepen its engagement with global industries in advanced manufacturing, CNC technology, precision engineering, industry-oriented training, international placements and technology transfer, with a focus on preparing Karnataka’s youth for emerging global opportunities and supporting the state’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
B.A. Arun Kumar, Country Manager-India, PROK Australia, said the company was continuing its collaboration with GTTC to identify and develop skilled technical talent from Karnataka for opportunities in Australia.
He said the quality of candidates participating in the selection process was encouraging and that the technical capabilities demonstrated by the selected candidates reflected the foundation provided by GTTC’s industry-oriented training.
Arun Kumar said PROK’s experience with candidates selected earlier had been positive and that the company looked forward to welcoming the newly selected technicians to Sydney. He described the partnership as a bridge between skilled talent in India and specialised workforce requirements in Australian manufacturing, and said there was potential for further collaboration in talent development, advanced manufacturing skills and international employment.
NEPEAN, founded in 1974, is an Australian privately owned engineering, mining services and industrial manufacturing organisation with more than 2,400 employees worldwide. Its collaboration with GTTC focuses on connecting skilled technical talent from Karnataka with global employment opportunities and strengthening cooperation in advanced manufacturing and industrial skills.
The initiative is aimed particularly at demand for CNC programmers, machinists and advanced manufacturing technicians in New South Wales, Australia, and provides a mechanism to identify, assess and place technically qualified Indian candidates in international industrial workplaces.
GTTC said it would continue strengthening partnerships with global industries and institutions in industry-aligned skilling, international placements, technology transfer and advanced manufacturing capabilities to develop a globally competitive skilled workforce in Karnataka.
