Suresh to Appear on June 19; Woman Accused of Misusing His Name in Alleged Fraud
Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Congress leader D K Suresh, the younger brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, for questioning in connection with an alleged cheating and money laundering case involving 33-year-old Aishwarya Gowda, official sources said Tuesday.
Suresh, a former Lok Sabha MP, has been asked to appear on June 19 to record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Gowda was arrested in April by the ED after searches were conducted at premises linked to her and Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni. The agency had said she defrauded victims by promising high returns on gold, cash, and deposits, while claiming connections with top political figures.
The ED alleged Gowda misused Suresh’s name, falsely claiming to be his sister. Suresh later filed a police complaint stating that his name was being falsely invoked in the alleged scam.
The money laundering probe is based on multiple FIRs registered at various police stations across Karnataka. Vinay Kulkarni’s statement has also reportedly been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
