Following trolling of Gaurav Gupta’s demo video, his tweet on doses aplenty also draws ridicule

BENGALURU:

BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta’s 55-second ‘explanatory’ video on how to register for vaccination on the CoWin portal became something of a ‘joke’ on social media with netizens pointing out that the video did not show a single green (‘available’) slot for booking a vaccination.

On Thursday evening, Gupta tweeted from the Chief Commissioner’s official Twitter handle: “Here’s a video that explains how to register on #CoWin portal for vaccination. Help those who may not be digitally savvy or have no access to the internet. Let’s #StandTogether against #Covid19.”

While Gupta’s desire to educate the ‘aam aadmi’ on how to book a vaccination slot on the CoWin portal may be laudable, the demo video did not show a single slot available for May 28 or even the following dates. What drew the ire and sarcasm of netizens was that all the slots for May 27 were shown in red (‘booked’).

‘Show us a slot!’

Bengalurean Suresh N @surnell, who has more than 70k followers, tweeted: “Sir, registration was never a challenge. Volunteers have been helping whoever needs. Can you tell citizens how to get a vaccination slot? Extremely digitally savvy people are not able to do it. Exactly, sir. The problem I said is in the video itself. All red.”

Sridhar C Gowda @sridharcgowda tweeted: “All booked..! Even for a demo we were not able to find one available slot.”

Photographer Jamesh Raj @idharmehere said: “Whatever, we will never get an option to book a slot in cowin site.”

Arvind Kumar @kumararvindad tweeted: “Sir, even in video slots are full…!”

Ravindra Kenchappa @Ravi27572 tweeted: “Sir… It’s hacked…No use. Start walk in or do it like how @Offtejasvisurya is doing it in shalini grounds.”

Another user Tarun @tarunp_in said: “Even in the demo video there are no slots available.”

IT professional SKB @sujoykr1 tweeted: “No help. Can you please post a video that shows slots are available for 18+ in government hospitals, densely populated area like KR Puram.”

‘Dude, do we look stupid..?’

Tech consultant Prem Sigh @premlight06 tweeted: “It would be great if you could share how to get vaccine in Bangalore instead of how to search. Even tech savvy not able to get slots, then you can imagine how frustrating for tech illiterate people. #VaccineRegistration #slotsfull #Karnatakabehindinvaccination.”

Digital creator SkinnyGirlDiariez, blogger Deena Pinto said: “Dude, do we look this stupid to you? Where are the slots? #StandTogether my a**e.”

Another jokepoint!

Apparently unfazed by the earlier criticism, the BBMP Chief Commissioner once again posted on Friday: “Bengaluru, 1,55,129 vaccinations are available today and will be administered across different BBMP zones and areas. Book your slot on CoWin NOW! We look forward to your #vaccinated pictures!”

The tweet again invited ire from netizens. Rajesh Joshi @JoshiRajes replied: “The slots should be opened everyday same time, maybe evening 5 pm or 6 pm. Not randomly. It would be of much help.”

James Raj @idharmahere questioned Gupta: “Show me available slots for Pincode 560001, none available.”

Another user Suresh Kulkarni @skulkarni74 said: “Sad, Commissioner says one thing, CoWin reality is different…. Just checked, no slot available.”

Surya Prashanth @SuryaPra5hanth tweeted sarcastically: “Getting a slot for vaccination is like playing ‘fastest finger first’ in KBC.”

Mechanical engineer Ganesh Murthy @rocklineguy tweeted: “No slots available on CoWIN portal. Same story everyday. Nothing has changed today, so far at least.”
