Bengaluru: A tragic gas cylinder explosion at a co-living paying guest (PG) accommodation in Kundalahalli, under the HAL Police Station limits, claimed the life of a 23-year-old man and left three others injured on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred around 6:00 pm at Seven Hills Sai Co-Living PG, located in the BrookefieldโKundalahalli area. Police said the blast was triggered by a gas leak in the kitchen area on the ground floor, where food is prepared for residents.

The deceased has been identified as Aravind (23), who was working inside the kitchen at the time of the explosion. He died on the spot due to severe injuries caused by the blast.
Another resident, Venkatesh, sustained over 50 per cent burn injuries and is currently in a critical condition. Two others โ Devi and Vishal โ suffered minor injuries. All the injured have been shifted to a private hospital for treatment.
According to preliminary information provided by police, the explosion occurred after gas leaked from a cylinder and ignited. The exact cause of the leak is yet to be determined.
Following the incident, police evacuated all residents from the PG, disconnected the power supply as a precautionary measure, and sealed off the premises. Officials said around 40 to 50 residents were staying at the PG, and alternative accommodation arrangements are being made for them.
Senior officers, including the Police Inspector, ACP, and DCP, visited the spot and carried out an inspection. The body of the deceased is being shifted for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain whether negligence or safety violations led to the fatal explosion.
