Sriramulu warns undertakers against discarding PPEs arbitrarily
BENGALURU:
Bodies of Covid-19 victims will henceforth not be buried within Bengaluru but at a separate site on the outskirts. Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu said on Wednesday that the decision was taken following protests and safety concerns raised by citizens.
Two acres of land would be allocated for the purpose, he said. Speaking to reporters in Chikkaballapur town, Sriramulu said he had instructed the Additional Chief Secretary to issue a government order to the effect.
Quoting a news item, the minister warned against the unscientific disposal of used PPE kits by those conducting or attending the funerals of Covid victims. “Merciless action will be taken against such people. Because of someone’s neglect, common people’s lives should not be at risk. Concerned officials will be held responsible,” he said in a tweet.
