At task force meet, CM proposes stricter curbs in containment zones

BENGALURU:

Following a meeting of the state Covid task force chaired by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday, specific responsibilities were allocated to the ministers.

Addressing reporters later, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said responsibilities related to policy formulation, preparation of guidelines, communication to media and management of the war room have been assigned to him.

Deputy CM Dr Ashwath Narayan has the responsibility of managing Covid Care Centres, and Revenue Minister R Ashoka and the CM’s political secretary Vishvanath will oversee Covid-designated private hospitals.
Dr Sudhakar said the issue of defective PPE kits in one of the private hospitals had come to his notice and the hospital had been given a warning.

The minister said the matter of imposing a lockdown in the state again was discussed, and he and Dr Narayan suggested a lockdown was not necessary at this stage. The CM called for stricter curbs in containment zones, Dr Sudhakar said.

Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Health Minister B Sriramulu, Revenue Minister R Ashoka, the CM’s political secretary Vishvanath and senior officials were present at the task force meeting.
