COVID-19: Bengaluru logs biggest one-day spike of 11,404 cases, 43 deaths

Karnataka reports 17,489 cases, 80 deaths

BENGALURU:

Bengaluru recorded 11,404 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, its highest single-day rise since the pandemic broke out, breaking it’s own previous record of 10,497 reported on April 15 — just two days ago.

Saturday’s highest 11,404 cases has pushed Bengaluru’s total caseload to 5,33,842 and 87,724 active cases, the health department said.

The day also witnessed 43 deaths in Bengaluru taking the total death load to 5,063 deaths, since the pandemic broke last year in March 2020.

Bengaluru also reported 3,253 discharges taking total discharges to 4,41,054.

Karnataka’s positivity rate is 12.20%

The positivity rate of Karnataka is slowly and surely climbing, and now stands at 12.20%. The case fatality rate remains at 0.45%.

On Saturday, Karnataka reported 17,489 cases and 80 deaths, which took its active caseload to 1,19,160 and death toll to 13,270.

Around 22 districts have reported triple figure virus infections. In the districts where new cases were reported, Mysuru reported 811, Kalaburagi 560, Tumakuru 507, Bidar 359, Ballari 355, Dakshina Kannada 309, followed by others.

Of the other fatalities, eight each in Hassan and Mysuru, three each in Tumakuru and Kalaburagi, two each in Ballari, Bidar, Chamarajanagara, Dharwad, and one each in Chikkaballapura, Chikkamangaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Kolar, Mandya, Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada.
