Author and columnist Shobhaa De put her foot in her mouth when she tweeted on the death of Sandalwood actor Chiranjeevi Sarja, but shared a photo of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi.
On Sunday, De tweeted: “One more shining star gone, just like that, what a tragic loss. Condolences to the bereaved family members @chirusarja.” But with this tweet, she attached a photo of Telugu actor Chiranjeevi.
Twitterati immediately responded, saying it was not megastar Chiranjeevi but Kannada actor Chiranjeevi Sarja who had died.
Realising her bloomer, Shobhaa De deleted her tweet right away.
Several social media posts sarcastically commented that columnists like her know so much about Bollywood stars but virtually nothing about South Indian actors.
