Bengaluru, May 3: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has reported a strong public response to its newly launched One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers with long-pending water bills.

As part of a large-scale drive, the Board has identified 2,81,019 eligible beneficiaries from a total of 3,73,883 records. So far, 2,12,359 settlement notices have been printed and dispatched to respective sub-divisions across the city.

To ensure swift implementation, BWSSB has outsourced the printing process, enabling a capacity of 50,000 customised notices every 48 hours. The Board aims to complete printing and distribution of the remaining 1,17,098 notices by May 10, 2026.

Revenue Collection and Relief Measures
Under the OTS scheme, BWSSB is targeting recovery of ₹471.56 crore in principal dues, while offering a substantial interest waiver of ₹252.29 crore to consumers.

In a significant early success, the Board has already collected ₹12.15 crore from just 56,765 notices issued in the first batch, highlighting encouraging public participation in the scheme.

Official Statement
BWSSB Chairman Dr. Ram Prasath Manohar stated that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

He said the scheme is designed to ensure access to clean water for all citizens without financial strain, while also improving revenue collection efficiency. “The strong initial response proves that when transparent and respectful systems are offered, citizens are willing to clear their dues,” he noted, urging eligible consumers to take advantage of the opportunity.

The OTS scheme is expected to not only help citizens clear their pending dues but also strengthen BWSSB’s financial stability, paving the way for improved water supply services across Bengaluru.
