Bengaluru: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has rolled out its One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, following the recent announcement by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, to help consumers clear long-pending water bill dues.
BWSSB Chairman Dr. Ram Prasath Manohar said that detailed OTS notices will be issued along with upcoming water bills, making it easier for consumers to understand their dues and settle them under the scheme.
The Chairman noted that the scheme was introduced as a special Ugadi initiative aimed at providing relief to lakhs of consumers struggling with accumulated arrears.
Out of approximately 11 lakh water connections under BWSSB, nearly 5.11 lakh consumers have pending bills. As per data till the end of February 2026, the total outstanding amount stands at ₹851.33 crore, including ₹539.43 crore in principal and ₹311.90 crore in interest.
To facilitate easy clearance of dues, the OTS scheme will remain in force for three months—from April to June 2026—offering consumers an opportunity to settle their bills with a waiver on interest.
OTS Details with Bills
Dr. Manohar stated that all arrangements for implementing the scheme are in place. Consumers eligible under the OTS scheme will receive a detailed statement along with their water bills, including principal dues, waived interest, final payable amount, payment methods, and eligibility conditions.
He urged consumers to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity, clear their dues, and reduce their financial burden while supporting the board’s efforts to improve water supply services across Bengaluru.
