Book fair organized at Vidhana Soudha for the first time

BENGALURU: For the first time in history, a four-day book fair has been organised at the Vidhana Soudha. Chief minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the book fair on Thursday evening.

After the inauguration, the CM said that the habit of reading books and literature makes a person more humane. “Therefore, everyone should develop the habit of reading. A festival for readers and literature lovers has been organized at Vidhana Soudha. Literature lovers should make good use of this opportunity”, he said.

He further added that from now on, a literature and book festival will be held at Vidhana Soudha every year. “People should buy books and create libraries in their homes. Children should develop a habit of reading books and move away from mobile and internet addiction”, he said.

Deputy CM Shivakumar, Assembly Speaker UT Khader, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, along with ministers, MLAs and many dignitaries, were present.

The book fair is open to the public for viewing until March 2. On March 3, legislators will be allowed to visit the fair. Daily seminars, discussions, interactive and cultural programmes will be organised.

On March 2, a musical evening orchestra programme featuring Sadhu Kokila and his team will be performed.
