Kalakare Lake drain to be concretised, Nagenahalli Lake drain to be widened: Karnataka CM.
BDA to work on another ‘problematic’ railway vent in Arkavathy Layout
BENGALURU:
Following his visit to rain-affected BDS Nagar and other places in Horamavu ward on Wednesday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said flooding was recurring problem in the KR Puram assembly constituency. He praised Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj and local MLA for providing relief to the affected people.
“Overflowing rain water from Yelahanka and Hebbal valley pass through KR Puram and Mahadevapura. Flooding in Horamavu ward is essentially due to a railway bund obstructing the rajakaluve. While the storm water drain is 125 feet wide, the passage under the railway line is very narrow, and leads to frequent flooding of surrounding layouts. I will speak to railway officials today itself to widen the vent,” Bommai told the media.
Referring to another railway vent in Arkavathy Layout, the Chief Minister said BDA had been instructed to rectify the problem. RCC work would be taken up on drains connecting to Kalkere Lake, while work on widening the drain from Nagenahalli Lake to Hebbal valley would also be taken up soon, he said.
