Kannada reality show went off air on May 8 amid Karnataka govt’s Covid curbs

BENGALURU:

After nearly 45 days, Bigg Boss Kannada season 8 is all set to resume its second innings from June 23.

The Colors Kannada channel made an official announcement on Monday. The show will resume with actor Kiccha Sudeep anchoring the show.

The reality show was pulled off the air after the last show (the 71st episode) on May 8 amid the lockdown-linked curbs announced by the Karnataka government as a surge in Covid-19 cases was witnessed in the state.

Sources said a few new contestants will be included to heighten interest and grab more TRPs. The channel is yet to make an announcement on the new faces.

Of the 10 current housemates, Aravind, Divya S, Manju, Nidhi, Prashanth Sambargi, Raghu, Shamanth, Shubha and Vaishnavi entered the house from day 1 while Chakravarthy entered the house on day 31. Bigg Boss season 8 was first premiered on February 28, 2021.

The Colors Kannada channel’s business head Parameshwar Gundkal made the announcement on Facebook of the second innings of season 8, while Colors Kannada also posted promos of the much-awaited reality show — in which contestants are isolated from the outside world.
