Bengaluru’s Chief Commissioner, IAS officer Tushar Giri Nath Tests Positive for Dengue

Date:

BENGALURU: Tushar Giri Nath, a IAS officer from the 1993 batch, is responsible for overseeing the health of 1.50 crore residents of Bengaluru. Unfortunately, he has recently been diagnosed with dengue fever. Despite his illness, Nath has admirably continued to fulfill his duties, attending important meetings and maintaining his regular schedule.

Reports from BBMP officials indicate that Nath had been experiencing a mild fever since Wednesday, June 19. However, he remained committed to his responsibilities until he decided to undergo a dengue test on the recommendation of the Chief Health Officer of BBMP last Saturday, June 22, which unfortunately came back positive.

Bengaluru has seen a worrying increase in dengue cases and other febrile viral illnesses, prompting swift action from health authorities. In just 10 days, the city recorded a total of 550 dengue cases.

Dengue is a severe illness that, if not detected early, can be life-threatening. Recent data shows that an average of 5 1/2 individuals in Bengaluru are currently fighting dengue. Unfortunately, Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has now become one of them.
