White-topping and work to prevent waterlogging at BGS bridge down ramp completed in 10 days as against 15-day deadline; BBMP chief’s pat for public, traffic police
BENGALURU:
The white-topping work from the down ramp of Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji (BGS) bridge to SJP Road has been completed in 10 days instead of the earlier announced 15-day deadline.
As part of the development of NR Road under the Tender Sure model by BBMP, the right side of the road was to be white-topped from the down ramp of the BGS bridge to SJP Road, along with construction work on the cross-gutter. To resolve waterlogging near the down ramp during the rains, construction work on the cross-gutter and white-topping had commenced, with a meeting on August 6 between the Joint Police Commissioner (Traffic) and the Chief Engineer (Projects) deciding on a 15-day deadline for completion of the work.

Relief for traffic
The work commenced on August 7 with the redevelopment of the cross-gutter along with work on the rain water canal near the SJP Road junction and ended with the completion of white-topping on Tuesday, August 17. The road was opened to vehicular traffic at 3 pm the same day.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has thanked the public and the traffic police department for their cooperation during the course of the work.
DCP traffic (west) Kuldeep Jain tweeted and thanked BBMP for completing the white topping work to avoid water logging. “Traffic is now being allowed on NR road flyover down ramp. In 10 days the white topping work is completed on war footing. This would help in avoiding any water logging. I would thank BBMP major works for prompt support,” tweet reads.
