Bengaluru’s Amruthahalli lake cleared of encroachments

Rs 4 crore allocated for development of lake in Bytarayanapura (BBMP ward 7)

BENGALURU:

IIlegal sheds put up on Amruthahalli lake in Yelahanka taluk of Jakkur hobli were demolished by BBMP officials on Tuesday. The lake covers an area of 24 acres, 36 guntas and land of 20 guntas worth Rs 15 crore had been illegally acquired.

Amruthahalli lake (Survey 115) comes under BBMP and a survey of land records showed the illegal land grab.

BBMP’s Lake Development Special Commissioner Reddy Shankar Babu, Dr Ashok, Joint Commissioner (Yelahanka)Mohan Krishna, Chief Engineer (Lakes), the Yelahanka tahsildar, and other zonal engineers were present during the demolition. Later, the retrieved portion was fenced off, engineer Prakash KV (Lakes) said.

Transferred from BDA

Amruthahalli lake was transferred from BDA to BBMP and an allocation of Rs 4 crore has been provided for its development. The Karnataka Tank Conservation & Development Authority (KTCDA) will chalk out a development plan and a tender will be called for the work.
