Covid worries have forced administration to restrict temple entry in Bengaluru during most auspicious month for Hindus
BENGALURU:
As part of the state government’s efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus, members of the public have been barred entry to temples in Bengaluru Urban district on Saturdays, Sundays and general holidays during the month of Shravana. The month is of special significance to practising Hindus.
Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner J Manjunath issued the order on Wednesday as per the provisions of the Covid-19 Regulations-2020 and the Disaster Management Act-2005.
The ban applies to private temples as well as those under the Endowment Department.
Curbs on rituals too
As per the order, there are also restrictions on religious rituals performed in temples during the month. However, on other days, the general public and devotees are allowed to enter the temples while observing all the Covid-related protocols mandated by the state and Central governments.
