BBMP probe shows Tirupati relative carried the virus

BENGALURU:

Adding to the 12 Covid clusters in recent weeks in Bengaluru, a new cluster at Navagraha Apartment near Manyata Tech Park has been declared a containment zone by BBMP after six in a family tested positive for Covid-19.

The apartment is on Rachenahalli Main Road, near Manyata Tech Park rear gate, Thanisandra.

Announcing the development on Monday evening, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad said all six of the family have been admitted in a private hospital in Kalyan Nagar.

Quick tracing

The Commissioner said BBMP officials came to know that 5 members of a family living in an apartment were infected with the virus. On investigation, it turned out that one of their relatives had visited them from Tirupati a week back. The man, who had a cold, went back to Tirupati after two days and got himself tested there and turned out positive. He advised the relatives whom he had visited in the Thanisandra apartment to get tested. Subsequently, of 8 members in the house, 6 turned out positive and all are admitted in a private hospital in Kalyan Nagar, Prasad said.

Contacts are negative

BBMP has conducted tests on 54 primary contacts and 150 secondary contacts of the family. All of them have turned out negative.
