Bengaluru: In a major push to boost urban tourism, the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) on Wednesday flagged off the iconic ‘Ambari’ Double-Decker Tourism Bus service in Bengaluru. The service was inaugurated by Tourism Minister H.K. Patil at Ravindra Kalakshetra.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said KSTDC, an undertaking of the Tourism Department, has been working for over 55 years to strengthen Karnataka’s hospitality and tourism ecosystem while offering quality services to both domestic and international tourists. KSTDC Chairman Srinivas M, MLA Uday B. Garudachar, Kannada and Culture Department Secretary Manjunath, Tourism Director Gayathri, and KSTDC Managing Director Prashanth Kumar Mishra were among those present at the launch event.

To promote Bengaluru as a vibrant tourist destination, KSTDC has introduced London-style Ambari Double-Decker buses, with plans to operate three such buses in the city in phases.

Route & Timings

The Ambari Double-Decker bus service will operate daily from January 21 on the following route:

Ravindra Kalakshetra – Corporation Circle – Hudson Circle – Kasturba Road – Visvesvaraya Museum – Chinnaswamy Stadium Road – GPO – High Court/Vidhana Soudha – K.R. Circle – Hudson Circle – Corporation Circle – Ravindra Kalakshetra

Ticket Price & Features

  • Fare: ₹180 per person for a full-day tour
  • Lower Deck: Air-conditioned with luxury seating
  • Upper Deck: 20 open-view seats offering elevated city sightseeing
  • Audio System: Microphone system installed to provide information on key tourist landmarks

The minister said the buses are designed to offer tourists a unique, elevated view of Bengaluru’s heritage buildings, cultural landmarks, and green corridors.

Expansion Plans

KSTDC is also planning to introduce additional routes in the coming days to further expand the double-decker bus tourism experience across Bengaluru.
