BENGALURU:
A staggering amount of Rs 1,26,58,618 worth of gold ornaments was recently discovered being illegally transported through Kempegowda International Airport. Customs officials have seized 79 grams of gold and have registered three separate cases related to this incident.
On November 17, a passenger arriving from Muscat was intercepted by Bangalore Air Customs officials, who confiscated approximately Rs 68,18,812 worth of gold. A total of 1113.07 grams of gold was seized from a traveler attempting to smuggle it in a waist belt pouch.

Similarly, on November 16, Bangalore Air Customs officials apprehended and inspected three individuals arriving from the bank. Two women from Colombo were found to be carrying Rs 58,39,806 worth of gold chains, weighing 966 grams. These women had attempted to smuggle the gold by concealing it in their shirts and undergarments.

In total, the three cases amount to Rs 1,26,58,618 worth of gold. A significant quantity of 2 kg and 79 grams of gold was discovered, leading to the detention of the accused individuals. The customs authorities are currently interrogating them in connection with these cases.
