Bengaluru | Auto Driver Killed in Tree Fall During Heavy Rains

Date:

BENGALURU: Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in the state capital of Bengaluru, causing widespread disruption and chaos. Low-lying areas are submerged in water, making it difficult for residents to navigate through the flooded streets.

The downpour has been particularly severe in areas such as Corporation, Nagasandra, Kengeri, Jayanagar, Banashankari, and JP Nagar, with water seeping into homes and causing damage. Fallen tree branches and electric wires have added to the chaos, leading to traffic congestion and power outages across the city.

Motorists are facing challenges due to traffic jams, delayed BMTC buses, and difficulties in commuting to work. Some employees have been stranded at their workplaces due to the unexpected rainfall that caught them off guard.

Since the evening of May 1, heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning have inundated many low-lying areas in Bengaluru, prompting frustration among residents over the lack of proper drainage systems.

Tragically, a fatal incident occurred in Katriguppe, where an auto driver lost his life after a tree fell on his vehicle during the storm. The driver, identified as Mahesh, was killed instantly when the tree collapsed on his auto near M.M. Bar in Katriguppe. Fortunately, there were no passengers in the auto at the time of the incident.

The tragic event unfolded around 7:30 pm near the bus stand close to CK Achukattu, leaving the local community in shock. Police responded swiftly to the scene following reports of the incident, highlighting the urgent need for safety measures during extreme weather conditions.
