BBMP Khata: Doorstep Delivery of Digitised Property Documents soon: DK Shivkumar

Date:

BENGALURU:

Bengalureans are well aware of the word ‘Khata.’ Due to the absence of the word ‘khata’ in the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act 1976 and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Corporation Act, 2020, the state government’s urban development department has now made a decision to deliver property documents directly to property owners at their doorsteps without the usage of word ‘khata’.

TheBengaluruLive would like to remind its readers about the e-aasthi scheme, through which Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, has announced that property documents will be handed over to property owners at their doorsteps.

“We have decided to deliver the official documents to property owners in the city. We will implement it in due time. Our government had previously implemented the Bhoomi project, and property owners in Bengaluru will receive home delivery of property documents similar to the ‘Bhoomi’ program,” said Shivakumar during a press conference after holding a meeting with Bangalore Residents’ Welfare Development Association and Citizens’ Association at Vidhana Soudha, discussing Brand Bangalore.

“To achieve this, we will digitize the properties, although it will take some time to de-gealise properties under BDA and BBMP. A primary strategy is being formulated to prevent incorrect property tax payments under a self-declared property tax system”, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stressed that the voice of the citizens of the city should be our voice.

People’s representatives and technicians have offered advice and opinions to guide the development of Brand Bangalore, with 30,000 suggestions received from citizens. Suggestions and opinions have been expressed regarding seven key issues from government and private organizations.

Solid waste management, transportation, optical fiber connectivity, Rajakaluve, ward committee meetings, footpath encroachment, hotel parcel garbage problem, climate change, and the opinions of children are among the areas of concern. In light of this, Verbatel has decided to conduct a debate with high school and college students to seek their advice. During the meeting, the civic welfare association recommended that security and violations of the revenue collection law be duly punished.

The Apartment Association and Welfare Development Association also provided numerous suggestions during the meeting. Transparency in administration, water and electricity management, groundwater conservation, call suppression, and other organizations have come forward to safeguard government property. Through the use of modern technology, we aim to provide convenience to citizens. Furthermore, we have decided to increase tax collection by utilizing mapping technology to identify those who fail to pay property tax within the legal framework.

“We are committed to creating a program for the people, giving them a voice in the construction of Brand Bengaluru. Within the first 100 days of assuming power, we will implement numerous programs,” stated Shivakumar.

Shivakumar proposed the initiation of a footpath drive to facilitate smooth pedestrian movement without disrupting street vendors. Furthermore, he assured major actions to address solid waste black spots and initiate city-wide cleaning by the end of this month. In addition, efforts will be made to detect property tax evasion in malls and large buildings through total station surveys. The Bengaluru Development Minister stated that the city’s advertising policy will also be carefully studied, with a suitable decision expected by the end of this month.

Recognizing the importance of children as the future, Shivakumar expressed the intention to hold a meeting with 15-20 students to gather insights and advice on what Bengaluru needs. He emphasized that they are building the future of Bengaluru and, therefore, their opinions and input are invaluable.
