Extension of rebate period at 11th hour, but still a relief for Bengalureans
BENGALURU:
Amid the surge in Covid-19 positive cases in Bengaluru, BBMP has decided to extend the 5% rebate period for paying property tax for the year 2021-22 till June 30.
An order to this effect was issued by urban development department’s joint secretary KA Hidayutalla on Monday evening.
As per the rules, BBMP can provide 5% rebate for property tax payment only in the first month (April) of the financial year. But the Act empowers BBMP to further extend the rebate period by one more month. The urban development department decided to further extend 5% rebate as Covid-19 strict rules are enforced to curb the people movement.
