Bengaluru: Senior IAS officer V. Anbu Kumar has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka, replacing Manoj Kumar Meena, who completed a four-year tenure in the role.
A government notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) confirmed that Anbu Kumar, previously serving as Secretary to the Government, Housing Department, has been relieved of his duties in the state administration to assume his new post.
Meena, who had been holding dual responsibilities as CEO and Ex-officio Secretary in the Elections Department, has now been placed on waitlist for a suitable posting and is expected to receive fresh assignment orders soon.
Anbu Kumar’s appointment follows the notification from the Election Commission of India, dated July 7, 2025, formally assigning him the responsibilities of CEO Karnataka and Ex-officio Secretary to the Government, DPAR (Elections).
The transition is seen as part of routine administrative reshuffles ahead of upcoming electoral exercises in the state.
