Trio accused of taking ‘lockdown bribes’ from tobacco dealers
BENGALURU:
ACB sleuths conducted searches at 7 different locations linked to suspended Central Crime Branch officers ACP Prabhu Shankar and Inspectors RM Ajay and Niranjan on Friday morning.
The trio is accused of taking bribes from tobacco dealers to allow them to operate during the lockdown.
The raids were conducted at ACP Prabhu Shankar’s residence at Sahakar Nagar, Inspector Ajay’s residence at HRBR Layout, Inspector Niranjan Kumar’s residence at Basaveshwara Nagar, the ACP (crime branch) office near Mysore Bank Circle, mediator Babu Rajendra Prasad’s residence at Yelahanka satellite town, Adil Aziz’s residence at Shantinagar and Bhushan’s residence at Yelahanka satellite town.
On Thursday, three different FIRs were lodged against the 3 CCB officers.
ACP Prabhu Shankar has been accused of bribery and money-laundering of Rs 2 crore.
Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood has transferred the case to the ACB.
