Duo had allegedly connived to fleece owner of under-construction building in RT Nagar
BENGALURU:
In a successful trap, Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Monday arrested an AEE of the Bangalore Development Authority as well as a surveyor for allegedly accepting a Rs 2 lakh bribe.
As per the sleuths, alongside the arrests of AEE Manjunath and surveyor Jayaram, searches were conducted at their residences.
According to the ACB, a trap was laid after a complaint was filed by an HBR Layout resident on behalf of one of his relatives whose building construction at RT Nagar was stopped by AEE Manjunath.
Hand-in-glove
Manjunath had reportedly visited the property and had directed the property owner to stop construction. Further, Manjunath had asked the property owner to contact surveyor Jayaram.
Subsequently, the property owner contacted Jayaram, who demanded Rs 5 lakh as a bribe for allowing the construction to continue. The building was being constructed after demolishing the old structure.
